Literature Text

Shortly after (F/N) had finished taking care of Alfred, dinner time had rolled around. Rose had met up with her and they had eaten their dinner in almost dead silence. Eventually, she went back to take care of the soldiers. (F/N) was glad that she enjoyed nursing so much because either way she would have had to be a nurse. Like her mother, she loved taking care of people. In a sense, she needed to be needed. As she neared her wing, she grabbed a car of K-rations for their dinner, just as the other nurses had done. The young nurse opened the curtain to Gilbert's bed and smiled at him.
"About time you came back, schatz. I missed you." The albino solider used his arms to push himself into a more comfortable position. "Yeah, yeah." She rolled those (E/C) orbs of hers as she handed him the tan tray. "Trust me, I did." Gilbert placed the tray on his lap and took the tan box from his nurse's hands.
He opened the box and spread its contents onto the tray and let out a sigh. "What is it?' (F/N) took the empty box and placed it on the cart's bottom shelf. "The awesome me simply cannot feed himself I need you to feed me." A smirk pulled up on the corners of his mouth.
She glared at him as the water bottle in her hand made contact with his hand. "I do not have to feed you. The only soldier I have is Ludwig." Her arms crossed over her chest and she gave him her best motherly scold. "But, Frau you must."
She sighed and turned the cart to leave room. "You don't need to get angry, Frau." The Prussian ran a hand through his hair as he watched her walk out. (F/N) skipped Ludwig's bed and went onto the next makeshift room. "Al, Al, wake up." She shook him a bit as snored escaped him.
Despite her speaking, the American stayed sleeping. In frustration, she flicked Alfred on the nose. "Ouch, what the hell?" He slowly sat up, as to keep from hurting his back. "Dinner time." At these words his eyes widened.
"Do I get good food?" His eyes searched her cart for answers. "Depends on what your definition of good food is." (F/N) smiled and handed him the box, which was marked K-ration: Supper. The excited look of a puppy had now disappeared from his face. "Oh, I hate these things."
She gave him his glasses, since he had been searching all over the bed for them. "Gosh you're beautiful." He pushed up his glasses and smiled at her. "D-don't flirt with your nurses." She put the bottled water in his open hand. "Aw, I only want to flirt with this nurse."
Her finger found its way into her hair, which she began to twirl. "I've got to go give dinner to the other soldiers." She took her hand out of her hair and began to push the cart from his presence. "Hold on, (F/N)." He grabbed her arm, lightly but with enough force to let her know that he was desperate. "Okay, but make it quick because I have to attend to everyone else."
His eyes looked deeply into hers, some emotion was glinting in them or perhaps it was just the glare of the light. (F/N) raised her eyebrow, not understanding what his problem was. "I love you." She shook her head and turned away from him. "You don't mean that." She muttered the phrase repeatedly.
"I do mean it, I love you." Al closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "You have no idea how long I have been wanting to say that." he tucked a lock of her soft (H/C) hair behind her ear. (F/N) sighed and took his hand off of her arm. "Alfred, I-I don't think I can."
"Just let me try." He pulled her down to his level and kissed her softly. (F/N) pulled away, her face flustered. "I'll see you later then." She took the cart and left. She backed up and entered Ludwig's room. "Hallo."
Sorry that this update took so long! I've been busy with school and attempting to deal with depression.
